A poem by Neil Ellman

Dreamy Improvisation

(after the painting by Wassily Kandinsky)

What the marmoset dreams
how the rhinoceros
the giraffe improvise
their world
turn man and beast
tree and sky
to sympathetic creatures
of another kind
(squirrelly lines
protozoan shapes
feathery hues)
how they dream
of creation
life and after-life
how to survive
in a treacherous world.
